Claustrophobia

Aubrey avatar Few days ago I saw a Hong Kong movie in a film event held in London. The director is Ivy Ho 岸西 who is a very famous screenwriter in Hong Kong. The movie's English name is "Claustrophobia" and the Chinese name is "Intimacy". It talks about a girl falling in love with her boss and the story happened within an office setting. I knew that this movie was not very successful in Hong Kong and many people think that it is very boring. No love scene, no kissing, no car crash, gun fire etc.

This is a very subtle movie and you can only find the story development through the dialogues and facial expression. I did enjoy this movie because it bought me a lot of memories. One thing that I don't like is the English subtitle that are very misleading. I thought many westerners could not understand the dialogues (in Cantonese) and it really made the movie miserable for them. Just like at the end of the movie, the girl said that "To share a life together, calculations must be made". Oh my god! The meaning is totally distorted. I don't know how to translate in a better way and it may be some kind of language barrier.

Don't worry if you don't understand the dialogue. You still can enjoy the music.
